The Story
Potiphar’s wife tells lies about Joseph.
Joseph was sold as a slave to Potiphar, a very important man who was in charge of the palace guard. Joseph worked hard for Potiphar, doing what he was told. God blessed everyone through what Joseph did. Potiphar was so pleased with Joseph that he put him in charge of everything in the house.
But then things started to go wrong. Potiphar’s wife asked Joseph to do something wrong. He refused. But this made her angry and she decided to trick him. When no one was in the house she asked him again. Joseph said no again, but she grabbed hold of him. He ran off, but she still had his cloak in her hands.
But things got worse for Joseph. Potiphar’s wife told Potiphar that Joseph tried to attack her. She said that when she screamed Joseph ran away. She showed him Joseph’s robe as proof. Potiphar was very angry. He threw Joseph into Prison.
But God helped Joseph in prison. The jailer liked Joseph so much that he was put in charge of the other prisoners. God was with him so Joseph was successful in all that he did – even in prison.

‘Please, Mr Policeman’
Aim:- This is a simple road safety game for younger children.
You will need:- Space in the room or out in the garden, one person as a police officer and one speeding car driver.
- The children stand at one side of the room. The idea is to get across to the other side safely. The police officer wants you to get across the road safety, so you have to listen to his or her instructions carefully.
- Explain that the open space is a busy road. Say, ‘Remember, never cross the without looking left and right first or while chatting to people. When it is safe to cross, walk straight across the road’.
- The children call to the policeman, ‘Please, Mr Policeman, can I/we cross the road? The policeman’s responds by saying, ‘Only if it’s safe to cross and you are wearing (colour).’ If you’re wearing that colour walk across the road safely, watched by the policeman. The policeman then holds up a hand in the ‘halt!’ position and says ‘Please be carefully and stay where you are! I can hear a speeding car!’ The person pretending to drive a speeding car then goes past quickly. Once again the children ask, ‘Please, Mr Policeman, can I/we cross the road? The policeman responds by saying ‘Only if you have short hair and it’s safe to cross. The policeman holds up a hand and repeats the rhyme, and the speeding car goes past.
- Repeat, each time, the policeman adds a different condition, make some of the condition not applicable to the children and reinforce the point of listening and doing as you’re told for your own safely.
- Finish by reminding the children ‘Remember, never cross the without looking left and right first or while chatting to people. When it is safe to cross, walk straight across the road’.

You will need:- Copy of the Good and Bad choices, art materials, scissors
Optional - 2 pieces of A4 paper (1 green and 1 red. If you don’t have green or red paper just draw a red broader around 1 and green around the other,

Talk about rules you may have at home and explain why you have them e.g. ‘Don’t touch the cooker because it will burn you.’
- Now look and talk about the different pictures on the ‘Good and Bad choices’ worksheet. ‘What would be a good or bad choices and why? What could happen if we did or didn’t do that thing?’ e.g. ‘If we didn’t listen, we could get hurt’.
- Colour the Good choices in green and the bad in red or you could cut the pictures out and stick the good choices on the green paper and the bad choices on the red paper.
- Explain to the children that we all find it hard to make good choices but we are never alone we can always talk to God and ask him for help.
